The GBS Group Wins Navy Environmental Engineering Contract

GBS to support hazardous material, safety, and scientific projects

Virginia Beach, VA – March 9, 2009 – The GBS Group, an engineering consulting and technical services firm, today announced its latest award of a prime contract with the US Navy, the third Navy contract won in recent months. GBS environmental engineers will support In-Service Engineering and Life Cycle Management efforts at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Ship Systems Engineering Station's (NSWCCD-SSES) Hazardous Material and Environmental Pollution Control System Department under this contract award.

The GBS team will assist NSWCCD-SSES with forward thinking solutions for engineering, scientific, programmatic and fleet support related to environmental compliance and improvement projects. These efforts will support multiple Navy and DOD agencies with environmental and hazardous materials management. The multiple-year contract is valued at several million dollars pending option decisions by the Navy.

"This is our second Navy contract for environmental engineering and services. We are honored by the Navy's confidence in The GBS Group to support these complex and important environmental programs," said Brian Trees, Environmental Programs leader at GBS.  "Our company's strong growth supporting Navy, Maritime, Missile Defense, and Passenger Rail programs is a signal that we have built a strong, well respected team," added Bob Golden, CEO of GBS. "Navy programs supporting the environment and public safety are very important and we are pleased to support those programs." The GBS Group teamed with NDI Engineering Company of Thorofare, NJ in the successful proposal for this environmental program support. The company received its SeaPort-e prime contractor status under the Multiple Award Contract (MAC) program in May 2007.

SeaPort-e is an online portal that is the Navy's preferred electronic procurement solution for Navy and Marine Corps programs and Virtual SYSCOM Commands (NAVAIR, NAVSEA, NAVSUP and SPAWAR). SeaPort-e is an integrated contracting approach across a range of engineering, technical, and programmatic professional support services to the Government.

“GBS blew me away with their persistence and technical discipline. They solve the root causes of machinery and rolling stock failures. They are very hands-on and deeply analytical."
