Providing services under subcontract to Marine Interface of New York
Virginia Beach, VA – April 15, 2011 – The GBS Group (GBS), an engineering consulting and technical services firm is proud to announce the recent award of a contract to provide remote control of power systems to allow Verizon to support curtailment programs, where they request that companies, which are compensated for participating, switch to backup power on their buildings to curtail power demand in an effort to avert power grid brown-outs. GBS provides this work as a subcontractor to Marine Interface based in East Northport on New York's Long Island.
Working with Marine Interface that has installed Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) control modules in Verizon central offices, The GBS Group developed the Web and mobile interfaces to allow the control of backup generators in the event of a curtailment request.
GBS will provide Web enablement of the curtailment application that can allow the remote control of diesel generators in Verizon's buildings when peak power usage prompts curtailment requests from electrical grid managers. In addition, GBS will provide a deployment plan document and assist in the deployment of the system.
